Impressions of a marvellous

evening of entertainment here in Gallnas

The studio was turned into a cabaret venue, small tables,chairs,candles,wine,snacks whilst the group individually performed songs,dances and readings

(yawn) We put the clocks forward last night and lost an hour due to 'summer time' . Well it's definitely milder and last week's surprise snow is starting to disappear.

But it's not that summery as to discourage visitors to the feeding areas

I enjoy living in Sweden very much, particularly this area of Dalsland and into Varmland. Swedish society is something special, a comfortable almost old-fashioned (and very caring) social democracy. Take this for example:

Karlstad is known as the solar city and has a smiling sun as it’s official emblem, partly because Karlstad often finds itself at the top of the Swedish list for hours of sunshine during the year (try telling that to a Karlstad inhabitant in the middle of November) and partly because of a young waitress called Eva Lisa Holtz from the 1700’s.

Eva Lisa was a waitress in Karlstad who became very popular through her sunny disposition and warm smile. She was nick-named "Sola" and is probably one of the few, if not the only, waitresses to be rewarded by having a statue of herself erected outside the Stadshotel in which she worked.

I cannot think of any city in the world where I have been where a statue to a cheerful waitress has been erected.

Snowstorms again

Just over a week ago we would have thought it was spring. Then we had a snowstorm and it was followed by what is being reported as the coldest week of the winter here in Sweden.

This morning the lake was frozen and had a beautiful 'marble effect upon it

This afternoon it has just kept snowing so the lake has changed it's face again

I almost forgot to tell you, thursday night into friday we had a snowstorm

Don't ya just LOOOOVVVVEEE swedish lakes in the summer? 

In the heavily forested jungles of Sweden's Dalsland area...at last it rains and the soil,trees,bushes...even the grass,celebrate with heavy sighs of relief. 

schizo mobiles?

I recently read an article which told me that there are more mobile phone subscriptions in Norway than there is population. Is that because they are listening more or talking more,I wonder...hehehehe

I also wonder,since mobile phones have been around in Sweden for over 20 years, what the figure is for Sweden.

Anybody out there know?

Beautiful Summer

It just continues on, magnificent variations of tones colours moods and sensings.

Lakeside meanderings. Evening moments with friends sitting out beneath calm cosy skies.

The unending melodies of bird songs seducing our senses with the sublteties of nature.

 

Summer in Sweden is such an enjoyable experiencing :)

Well that saves me having to excuse myself to the land of my birth or the land where I now live

 

I am not really a football fan, actually I think it's more a business than a sport but even I get 'touched' when it's Sweden versus England. I am just schizo about who I want to win...hehehehehehehe

around every corner surprises await here in Sweden. But I guess this hitch-hiker won't get a lift as she was trying to fool me...she had 3 youngsters hiding in the grass..that's too many for me to risk giving a lift
