Volvo for the chinese market????

To think that people were worried about Geely taking over Volvo and possible Volvo shrinkage effects.

Well, it seems Peter Oskarsson was ahead of the trend. I haven't quite worked out is this is the answer to Chinese sales – or whether it is a suitable sales winner for the Swedish market (after all, at 92 cms high it's GOTTA BE SAFE – it goes right through the legs of Elg and passes under their stomachs).

Wonder what happens when you go through a puddle?

Smart work huh?

Haiti Hour

One of the things I love and admire about my chosen country of residence, Sweden, is a profound sense of fairness in the society – and an almost touchable sense of 'helping those less fortunate'.

Today in Sweden as yet uncounted numbers gave an hour of their pay to help Haiti. In the first hour, from 14-00 to 15-00 it was becoming clear that the average donation would be 259 Kr per person ( $ 36).

Haiti hour

Some national newspapers charged 1 krone extra  - and donated 2 kroner each paper to Haiti.

This in addition to all the monies that are flowing in to aid agencies, Unicef, Bankgiro and Postgiro donations.

You only have to look at Sweden's record of assisting refugees and re-settling them in Sweden to see just how amazingly generous Swedish people are.

I know this is also happening all around the world, in many countries. People are putting their money where their mouth is……and sharing what they have with others less fortunate.

I just happen to live in Sweden and felt qualified to observe the beauty of this culture by virtue of my non-swedish nationality.

what? no snow either?

Ok, driving in snow can be…hmmm..hazardous. Ice and snow make for unpredictable conditions.

Modern tyres, especially the dubb dek (pigdekk, spiked tyres) we use in winter in Sweden – which I love – make it so much easier.

I even feel safer in my cars in the winter with dubbdek than I do in the summer when it's been raining with my summer tyres.

But, roads are only part of the hazards for a driver. PARKING, especially in the bigger cities, can be an expensive business – and frustrating.

You think you have found a good parking spot, only to see some piece of paper waving happily to you from your windscreen when you return. You look around and see that a sign which definitely was not there when you arrived, has now miraculously grown out of the pavement. Wish I could get some of the fertiliser they use to achieve that, it would really improve the plants in my garden.

But, well, even that pales into insignificance compared with this……..

I'm still trying to figure out how you actually do this. Is it kind of a situation where the car has too much testosterone or what?
