changing,changing,changing...all the time. Nature never allows us to rest unchallenged by new developments. Most of the snow has now gone from the lake surface..transformed. Posted by Picasa

Past 200,000

Well, now we went over the 200,000 count
for website hits on the

Thats a first since the website started in 1998

Website visits/hits

There seems to be a lot of interest in my wife's art
judging by the activity at her website these past 2
weeks - which coincides with her exhibition in Galleri
Infra, Stockholm.

Visits and hits are 200% more than the average for
the previous year - and we are about to have a record
for a month and for a year, with hits about to top
200,000 for the year possibly today but certainly
within the next 24 hours!

Snow Go

After 24 hours of temperatures above freezing all
the snow is starting to melt and to go - as one would
expect.
The frozen lake has a covering of water from the rain
we have had and is 'groaning' at night I presume as
the molecules expand through thawing.
Winters in Sweden  - or the area of our home -
are so interesting.

Stockholm Exhibition

Oh, I think I like this Qumana :)

The reason I was not blogging last week
was because my wife (http://www.ragnhild-monsen.com )
was holding a major exhibition of her art work
 - she has been a professional artist for over
30 years - at Galleri Infra, Infra City,Stockholm

So we had a marvellous stay at the Scandic Infra
City hotel and a hard working week erecting a
very large amount of very large tapestries and
textile art.

Qumana and backups BLOGS

Hmmmm.. I must be getting nerdish :):)

This is a trial of an offline Blog editor which has many
very nice features to help us write our blogs...especially
I also solved another little problem today with my blogging.
Over the 5 years I've been blogging I've had 2 harddisk
crashes...one caused by an (at the time) undetected virus
which finally managed to physically destroy a new 80 gig
HDD.
This gave me something of a headache or two, as a lot
of my blog backups also disappeared. Today I grabbed
a free opensource website copier that also copies BLOGS.
Beautifully :):)

Back Home

"Oh, the joy:
to live on this land of lusciousness
where civilisations sounds have surrendered
to the near-neolithic undulations
that are the rhythms of unmetered moments,
bathing the mind with the tranquility of timelessness".

Some of the old buildings in the area are just not surviving this winter: the roof collapsed on this old house under the weight of the snow Posted by Picasa

SNOWFLAKE NUMBERS
" It's been calculated that in a volume of snow two feet square by ten inches deep there are
roughly one million flakes.
Multiply that by the millions of square miles that are covered by snow each year (nearly one
fourth of the earth's land surface), and then multiply that by the billions of winters that have
occurred since the dawn of time, and it's obvious we're talking unimaginable googols of
flakes. Some of these are surely repeats.

On the other hand, a single snow crystal contains perhaps 100 million molecules, which
can be arranged in a gigajillion different ways".

Hmmm..it's my weekend for encountering the name Lundqvist :)
First I have watched a charming Swedish film (though without english
subtitles so occasionally I was a little lost in the dialogue) called
Kim Novak badade aldrig i Geneserets Sjo - which I think means
Kim Novak never bathed in Geneseret lake. Amongst many fine actors
in this film was an Anton Lundqvist. Pretty good actor.

Henrik Lundqvist was the Swedish Ice Hockey team's goalie
and, as I understand it, was instrumental in helping the
Swedish team to collect the Gold medal at Turin.
Both these 'exposures to Swedish life' have been most enjoyable
experiences :):)

Yes, it was a Bullfinch. Yes, it was a Greenfinch.
My thanks to STEFAN at http://www.birds.se for his speedy help in confirmation.
Incidentally, http://www.birds.se is a fantastic website resource..in 10 different

Two days of above freezing temperatures and everything starts to change rapidly. The lake, frozen only for a couple of weeks this winter (instead of 3 months) shows signs of the thaw Posted by Picasa

For those who've asked, this is what I mean by 'frostflowers' Posted by Picasa
What's the fascination with the birds?
Well, a little under 2 years ago I was given a Fuji S5000 digital camera as a present. It's my
3rd digicam. But this camera is such a joy to use that I have taken over 8,000 pictures in
21 months.

So, at the moment I am sitting in the 'living room' of my home helping my wife with some
of her artwork involving the metal. You can see more about her artist life over the past
30+ years at:
http://www.ragnhild-monsen.com
She has a large solo exhibition coming up in March in Stockholm at Galleri Infra.

As I am sitting there working, the birds are coming to feed and some of them I don't
remember ever having seen before. So I get a little occupied trying to get some
good photos...hehehe

I also have a 'spiritual blog' at http://ito.blogspot.com if you have any interest.

There is a 'companion' website to this "Sweden Experience" blog which can be found at
