Sweden's land area smaller than previously thought

Sweden has not shrunk. But when Statistics Sweden measured the country's land area recently, they found that the country is still about 3000 square kilometers smaller compared to the last time it was measured.  via

It appears this is caused more by increased water areas and more accurate methods of measurement. Clearly there

was no truth to the rumour that part of the southernmost tip of Sweden had, well, disappeared. The new measurements have negated police investigations focusing on theft or outright vandalism.
